Inish Turbot MacDonnacha

Inish Turbot is a low lying island off the north west coast of Connemara. The last of its residents resettled to the mainland about 1978 and today the homes are occupied by people from as far away as Holland and Germany together with some locals. This is done, mostly during the summer months combined with long weekends.

Transport to the island, which takes about ten minutes, can be arranged with local fishermen unless one has own boat. There are good anchorage points – Fahy Bay on the mainland and at pier on the island.
